Cinelyst is a social movie critic. It collects reviews using a simple "see" or "don't see" rating scale, along with a star rating and an option to leave a short text review. Cinelyst was my Senior Project. I worked by myself to create the logo and branding, design the user interface, work with an iOS developer, and eventually will put it on the app store.
Way Out There was an app concept a friend and I concepted to help people find better camping nearby. As it is now, to find a campsite you have to traverse many sites, and often the information is out of date. Way Out There would allow users to upload sites (dispersed or not) so that other users could see what options were around them. The site contribution would include: price (if any), hazards, what's allowed and what isn't, amenities, etc.
This website was designed to be half onboarding resource and half a working web client version of the Flashmob mobile app. My goal was to keep it as simple as possible and give it a very clean, polished look.
While working at Opera Mediaworks I was fortunate to direct ad creatives for many household name brands. I would receive a request with few assets, and design static and rich media ads that continually performed at high levels.
Note: A sample of static ads shown above, enlarged for desktop view.
Concepted ideas from scratch
Designed clean, effective ads
Worked in high pressure environment with quick creative turn around
Pack Hike Shoot was an Instagram account I started in early 2016, mostly just to document backpacking/camping/hiking trips I was taking. It's been a great motivator to get outdoors even more, and has also reignited my love for photography.
Molie Malone is an Interior Designer who had been working as part of a design firm for a number of years. She finally decided she wanted to take things into her own hands and start Molie Malone Interiors. This site was designed and developed with multiple iterations, starting with a 5 page site and working my way down to the current one page version, and then building back up to 6 pages. This site was built with Bootstrap, HTML5, CSS3, and jQuery, and designed with Photoshop and Illustrator.
Photo Effects is an application that lets you share and transform pictures with text, stickers, filters, and borders all for free. This is a promotional site for the Photo Effect application. The task was creating a promotional application site for Photo Effects. It was designed with Photoshop and developed in HTML5 CSS3, and jQuery from scratch.
This was a one page website for the company Opera Response. It was designed to inform clients of the services the company provides, as well as publishers. Unfortunately the project was halted and I never got a chance to finish development.
A co-worker and friend of mine got engaged and wanted a website for his wedding. On the website, there would be pictures, information, hotels nearby, etc. His fiance drew up some designs, and together we looked them over and came up with the finished product.
Social Live is an iOS app which is still in development that enables users to see what events of that day (i.e. clubs, sports, concerts, etc) are the most popular at the time. My role as the Lead UI/UX Designer is to collaborate with the Product Manager and create clean efficient design.
FoodPrint was another concept app for tracking where your groceries have come from and what they’ve gone through. The user would scan a barcode, and they would be shown a farm where the food came from and what rating the farm has, based on how environmentally conscious it is, how it treats it’s animals, etc. FoodPrint’s User Interface and Branding were designed from the ground up by myself.
This is a Billy Joel concept gig poster made for his 5/27/14 concert at The Hollywood Bowl. The background is the lyrics to the song "Piano Man" over and over again. This poster was concepted by myself through iterative design, along with each of the assets on the poster.
This is a concept movie poster for Wes Andersons "The Grand Budapest Hotel". Each of the characters in Wes Anderson’s movies have a very unique style. This was an attempt to capture the identity of the main character through only his outfit.
This was a poster inspired by the song by Modest Mouse, Out of Gas. Out of Gas, Out of Road is a lyric from the song which for some reason stuck out to me. This poster was just one interpretation of the lyric.
This was a re-design of a Glacier National Park brochure for the National Park Services. The NPS brochures are effective yet out of date. The design was made to imitate the cleanliness and minimalism of iOS 7.
